Tennessee Stewed Corn

12 ears of fresh corn, cleaned and kernels scraped from the cob
1/4 cup of water
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pepper

Combine corn and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered 20 minutes.

Add the remaining ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes; stir frequently.
Yield 6 - 8 servings
